COC urges more ambition in the newspaper. Netherlands must lead LGBTQ+ rights again. This is urgent because other countries pass us.

For years, Netherlands was a world example. We legalized same-sex marriage first. We led in equal rights. But now? COC says we sleep. Meanwhile, Portugal and Ireland overtake us.

It is not only about laws. COC sees discrimination still happens regularly. In schools, at work, on streets. Transgender rights stay behind. Gender transition waiting takes too long. Many countries do this better.

COC wants politics and society to think: where do we go? Not comfortable resting on old success. Really do something for acceptance and equal rights. This starts with admitting we are not perfect. Then work on improvement.
