An American minister was removed from a Christian podcast at the last moment. She is openly gay. Anne-Marie was ready to go live. Then she received a message ten minutes before: the interview was cancelled.

The podcast makers of 'Living My Faith' offered to invite her to another program. They admitted that LGBTQ+ was a sensitive topic for them. Anne-Marie is an ordained minister with a Yale diploma. She came out at age 52 after a long marriage. She helps women who discover later they are gay, bi or trans.

The problem: the podcast makers could have just googled her. In thirty seconds they could see who they invited. They accepted her but apparently did no basic check. Anne-Marie asks: what is worse? Not checking who you invite, or checking and inviting anyway, then backing out?

This case shows how progressive words and conservative actions clash. Many conservative religious groups like to say they are inclusive. But when it really matters, they apparently do not mean it. Anne-Marie loses a platform where she could do important work. She could show that gay and religious are not opposites.
